Canada

There are many restrictions on local networks in Canada on the types of messages you can send and what volume can be sent. You require a local number to use as the originator to send SMS in Canada.

Account Whitelisting

Account whitelisting is needed in Canada.

Bulk SMS

The Bulk SMS facility is not supported in Canada. Operators hold the right to filter and block messages that they deem are of bulk nature and do not adhere to the internal guidelines.

A group of messages with similar content sent from the same originator is considered as bulk. Messages split across smaller groups (<100 messages) and sent at different times (spaces of 5 minutes, for example) allows for a better delivery rate.

Maximum Messages

You need to purchase at least one local number to send messages in Canada. Our platform offers 500 SMS (160 characters) per number per day to be sent and we will throttle the amount of messages to be sent out at 1 SMS per second. If you send more than this, our platform may not allow, but you may still be charged.

Delivery within this threshold can be affected by these restrictions applied at the networks'discretion. This is not under our control.

Filtering

Messages that promote gambling, betting and/or adult content as well as website links are not permitted to be sent. All messages of this nature are considered spam and/or unsolicited and may be filtered. This is not under our control.

Traffic that has been delivered successfully, does not necessarily imply compliance with industry guidelines and regulations. Due to lack of insight from the local operators, we cannot provide more proactive details on additional filtering that may take place.
